SPECIFIC Building as a power station pod

We were asked by SPECIFIC to build their demonstration pod from SIPs panels as part of their Buildings as power stations project. This was constructed on their Baglan Bay innovation centre site on a specially designed structural steel in order that it can moved to various locations and also be transported to exhibitions.

The building combines all of the technologies currently under investigation at SPECIFIC, the first Building as a Power Station allows them to showcase and test the entire “generate,store,release” system as well as the individual technologies.

The demonstration pod shows that it is possible to power and heat a building without connecting to existing services, which reduces the cost and time for installation, reduces running costs, and makes it suitable for sites with no or limited grid connection.
